Foster families (aka Resource families) in Utah do not "make money" like many think. We're given a stipend. Many times, kids enter the system and do not get to bring clothing or anything from home.
Imagine being a child living in a house where drug use might be very prevalent. In homes where meth is used, for example, the items are considered contaminated and many times they cannot bring anything with them. Not a stuffed animal, baby blanket or clothing.
In Utah, there is a Foster Closet available for resource families to get supplies they need.
Right now, they need donations:
1) Boys' and girls' clothing sizes for children 7-12
2) Mens' small and medium clothing (to be used by teenage boys)
3) Underwear and socks for all ages and genders
I'll be collecting clothing and donations. If you'd to purchase these items, you can drop them off at my house in Taylorsville, downtown by my work at Temple Square, or I'd be happy to pick them up! If you're not in Utah, message me at [email protected] and I'll send you an address to send a check. I'm happy to watch for sales on childrens' underwear or socks and check clearance racks for them to get them for the best prices.
For clothing, make sure it is something which is still usable. Only brand new underwear and socks, please. But gently used clothing for children 7-12 would be great. They have lots and LOTS of baby clothes but toddler clothing might be good also.
