As everyone knows, I hated my kitchen when I moved in.
This is my kitchen in May 2014 when I moved in. Normally I'm not a huge fan of painted wood, but these cabinets are cheap builder's grade form the 1980's. The previous owners never thoroughly cleaned them and they were filthy.
The faux butcher's block counters were horrendous. The sink was damaged and chipped.

So I removed the cabinets, cleaned them, and used Rustoleum Cabinet Transformation paint on them. It has taken me 2 weeks of painting every night. I have done the doors in stages of about 5-6.
Overall, the paint is adhering well and is covering a multitude of sins---the damage to some of the wood was extensive from water damage. I have filled in holes, patched as best as I can, etc.
I might try finding some replacement doors.

Obviously some of the doors are still needing to be replaced.
I also have door knobs and (as yet not purchased) drawer handles. The hinges now match my new-ish faucet (replaced last year by my brother Stephen) as I cleaned and spray panted them.
I want to add some beadboard on the peninsula facing the dining room. The wood there is very brittle and in bad shape. I think ripping it out and replacing it with bead board will not take very long and will give a big update.

This is a close-up of the granite. It is called Venetian Gold-Classic. Very pretty. It has a lot of layers of color in it... black, gray, brown, gold, tan, cream, white and even a tiny bit of maroon in there if you look closely enough. (Which I have.)
I want to paint my soffit white, add crown moulding, change the panel of wood facing the dining room, add the doorknobs and handles...
And long-term, I'd love to find some new appliances. I don't think the white appliances look bad in the space, but they are older. They fit the look of the kitchen though.
Also, my kitchen is still in DESPERATE need of new lighting. I still have the same lighting. I have not chosen the new lighting for this kitchen yet. I have several ideas though.
I'll post more photos of the kitchen when the doors are finished, my new microwave (my old one was a gift from my mom and worked great for years---but now works only half of the time... it is large, clunky and doesn't work well enough to keep... so I'll be buying a smaller one this week.)
OH! I forgot to mention, I got a new stainless steel DEEP two-sided sink as well.
I love my kitchen but all I see right now are unfinished areas.
But seriously, its a drastically updated kitchen! I hope you all enjoyed this post.
